The Ballet Division offers three levels of classes, from beginners to advanced. The beginning level class meets twice per week; the intermediate level meets three times per week; the advanced level meets four times per week. The Vaganova Method is used in class instruction. Two of the four teachers have studied the Vaganova Method in the former Soviet Union and are certified to teach the method. The other two teachers have studied extensively with the Coordinator of Preparatory Ballet, who is certified in the Vaganova Method. The Loyola Ballet has two performances each year, in November and April. Preparatory students perform jointly with College ballet students; however, the beginners are only included in the spring performance. These performances provide an excellent opportunity for the students to dance and interact with college level dancers and to be part of a high quality performance. At the same time, it makes accessible to the community a level of classical ballet performance rarely seen in New Orleans.
Faculty: Gayle Parmelee, Laura Zambrano, Gilbert Rome, Cheryl O'Sullivan, and Sarah Grundmeyer Abrusley
