Music Education

The bachelor of music education curriculum at Loyola is designed to fulfill academic requirements leading to teacher certification. Most states observe reciprocity with Louisiana regarding teacher certification.

Music education students may select certification in either vocal or instrumental music. Optional concentrations in jazz studies or in music business may be selected by students who want to increase the scope of their educational preparation.

Music education students, from freshman through the senior year, have the unique opportunity to participate in a variety of preparatory teaching experiences in the community at both public and private schools.

Loyola University and the College of Music and Fine Arts search not just for students, but for young men and women who have imagination, initiative, intelligence, and character. Likewise, those students who are accepted for the bachelor of music education degree program must have the innate ability to inspire others.
