Music Industry Studies

The Music Industry Studies Program has developed an innovative curriculum designed to prepare students for today’s music industry. As an alternative to a strictly traditional music degree program, the College of Music and Fine Arts offers two tracks in music industry studies. The bachelor of music degree with music industry studies emphasis is designed for the performing musician, while the bachelor of science degree in music industry studies is designed for the student with limited performing experience. Both degrees combine a flexible liberal arts curriculum with emphasis in many areas of study including business administration, legal studies, music, graphic arts, communications, video production, audio recording, and creative writing, along with music industry related courses and experiences. A goal of the program is to prepare well-rounded graduates who are ready to be the leaders of tomorrow’s music industry.

In addition to the music industry studies majors offered through the College of Music and Fine Arts, students can major in business with an emphasis in music industry studies through the College of Business Administration or any minor in music industry studies while participating in any major offered by the College of Arts & Sciences.
